Inspiring Stories
How Rich Are We?
One day a father and his rich family took his son on a trip to the country with the firm purpose to show him
how poor people can be. They spent a day and a night on the farm of a very poor family. When they got
back from their trip, the father asked his son, "How was the trip?" "Very good Dad!" "Did you see how poor
people can be?" the father asked. "Yeah!" exclaimed the son. "And what did you learn?" asked the father.
The son answered, "I saw that we have a dog at home, and they have four. We have a pool that reaches to
the middle of the garden; they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lamps in the garden; they
have the stars. Our patio reaches to the front yard; they have a whole horizon." When the little boy was
finished, his father was speechless. His son added, "Thanks, Dad, for showing me how 'poor' we are!"
Isn't it true that it all depends on the way you look at things? If you have love, friends, family, health, good
humor and a positive attitude towards life -- you've got everything! You can't buy any of these things. You
may have all the material possessions you can imagine, provisions for the future, etc.; but if you are poor of
spirit, you have nothing!
For Discussion or Writing

Culture Tour to BALI!
Hello Jello ! Today i will tell you the stories about my school's Culture Tour a.k.a Tur Budaya #32015!
So , we went to Bali on 3rd of April . It was Thursday night , before we go there , the school gave us our exam result which is very bad . SO! The meeting place is a Bandung Train Station located in Kebon Kawung Street , we gather there at 5pm and the train took off at 8pm . Its like forever i didnt get into train , it was so exciting! I Didn't know that train's chair can be rotated 180degree!!!
The Next Day 4th of April IS MY BIRTHDAY! My Friend surprised me by writing on my face with a red marker (and i cant get rid of it until the morning) , it was my 16th birthday by the way. Anyway , we arrived at Surabaya Station , Gubeng Station 8.30 am in the morning . We get our belongings and proceed to the Bus !
What do we do in the bus? Mainly Sleeping , and sleeping , a little chit chat and sleep again ~ Its not something even worth to tell *duh .....OKAY! The Important part is we arrived in Ketapang Port at 7pm that day , we rode the ship for 2 hours and it was amazing! There are so many couples in the ship , argh the ballad of a forever alone *crying in the dark* .... Proceed to the next activity , we took another 4 hours to get to our hotel , a little intermezzo my ipad screen is broken at the ship , not broken "broken" but it got red , and after i searched on the internet the cool name is discoloration ! Argh i panicked because its one of my important things in life *cry* , but after we arrived at the hotel (it was 2am Bali Time) it already fixed by itself *i still dont get it until now* . My Roommate in Nirmala Hotel is Dinda , Dela and Lala , my besties *smooch*
5th of April!
Our first destination is Benoa , a beach where all water sport in bali gather in one place . I didnt get to play anything except go to the sea turtle island ( i dont recommend this one) because i have my period there and so it was like ewh if i go to water . Ah , we met "2" High School here , i met my bestfriend from elementary ~ We stayed in benoa for 4 hours , ate our lunch there and then proceed to Garuda Wisnu Kencana :3 A Statue of Garuda and wisnu , it hasnt finished yet so i cant wait to see the finished one ?! We Took Class of 32015 photos and took a lot of photo there , the last destination on that day is Jimbaran Beach , where you can eat seafood in beachside ... On Jimbaran beach , our next door restaurant is having a prom night (Why would they have a prom night in a place thats so crowded?) and us? We're doing BEACH PARTY ! ITS THE BEST NIGHT EVER!!!!!!
6th Of April
Our first activity is go to a very traditional village called Panglipuran , there is this one drink called loh loh cem cem and it tastes so good, should try the next time i go there.....After that we got our lunch in kintamani , the food was so delicious (and not limited) , and the last tourist attraction we go to is Sukowati market , i only bought milk pie there ( i bought 80 btw) because im not interested in the clothes whatsoever ...
LAST BUT NOT LEAST MALAM KEAKRABAN ! The moment we share with Class Of 32015 , there are award and nomination and some show from our extracurricular like KV , TS'T , MK , it ends at 12.00 ( i felt like cinderella)
7th Of April OUR LAST DAY
Our last day begin with sleepyhead , because of the Malam Keakraban :( anyway , we go to Pandawa Beach thats so awesome ! Its a human made beach , but its so cool! The sand is white , the atmosphere is good , and there's kayaking there too! Because theres so little time , we proceed to Khrisna souvenirs center , i bought peanuts , bracelet , aroma therapy and another random things , actually we can go to Kuta the most known place in Bali , but because we have to catch our flight we didnt get the chance to go there (well , some people did) . We took the 6.30pm flight from Ngurah Rai Airport to Husein Sastranegara airport , the plane was so noisy with our presence there AHAHAHAHAHAHA we arrived in Bandung 8.30 Bandung Time , and that was the most amazing trip EVER!
PENINTENTES
Combine snow, cold temperatures, bright sunshine, wind and very dry air often snow does not melt, but directly sublimates (converts from solid directly into gas form). If the conditions are correct bowl shaped structures will form where the snow sublimates in the cavity, but not as quickly on the raised portions between the bowls. The sublimation is greatest at the bottom of any cavity and least on the peaks and sides. This process will at first scallop the surface of the snow, then as the bowls get deeper peaks and ridges form, the cavities growing downwards through the snow pack. The resulting structures appear as tall pillars of snow with deep cavities between them.
These odd structures really catch the attention, so much so I became curious and researched the mechanism behind their formation and whatever else I could find out about these strange formations. Interestingly they are first described in the scientific literature by Charles Darwin who encountered penitentes near the Piuquenes Pass in the Andes Mountains. Called 'snow cups' or 'penitentes' due to their resemblance to pilgrims or hooded religious figures the results can be startling in their strangeness. The pillars can be taller than a person, but the tallest I have seen on Mauna Kea this winter are about one meter, mostly just half a meter, I suspect they could be taller if given a chance, but that is the depth of the remaining snow fields. The conditions for forming penitentes have been present at the summit for the last couple months, and the process has been carving at the deeper remaining snow fields on the tops of the ridges and north sides of the pu'us at the summit. Currently entire snow fields of acres in size are carved deeply with these penitentes in the summit area. This has resulted in entire gardens of penitentes along the roads at the summit and another reason why the summit continues to be such a beautiful and fascinating place.

Student Council President Speech
"The student council helps share students’ ideas, interests, and concerns with teachers and school principals. They often also help raise funds for school-wide activities, including social events, community projects, helping people in need and school reform. For example most schools do food drives, fundraisers and parties. Many members learn skills that were an extension of their formal education.
According to several schools:
"A Student Council is a representative structure for students only, through which they can become involved in the affairs of the school, working in partnership with school management, staff and parents for the benefit of the school and its students." " That is what student council taken from wikipedia.
Since freshman year, I have been a passionate advocate for our student body. When a food poisoning epidemic broke out on campus, I crafted the petition to demand better service from our food providers and better oversight from school administrators. It was unacceptable for the health of our peers to be compromised by consuming the food in our own cafeteria. Many of you agreed with me, and the petition got the support of 85% of our student body.
Since then, the administration has been more proactive about monitoring health and safety regulations in the cafeteria. As a result of my urging, the administration has also began publishing the ingredients and nutrition facts of all food items offered in the cafeteria so that students can make healthier, more informed choices about what they eat.
The following year, I was elected as Sophomore Class Representative to the student council. One hallmark achievement of mine was increasing accountability for student council expenditures. You can now find the student council budget on its website, as well as a monthly update of actual transactions made. This accountability initiative allowed us to reduce prom ticket prices by $20 for each student. Once we realized that we had funds left over from previous allocations, we redirected the money to prom to make the important event more affordable for every student.
If elected, I will continue to fight for justice, transparency, and equality for our student body. I will create a channel of student representation on our city’s School Board, which supervises our school’s administration but does not offer an opportunity for student voices to be heard. I will reform the course registration system so that selections can be made electronically, increasing efficiency and minimizing frustrating errors. I will continue the fight for healthier, more nutritious school lunch offerings in our cafeteria, partnering with local farmers to provide fresh produce for salads and snacks.
My record exemplifies passionate, self-driven advocacy on behalf of all of us. I care about your interests and your voice. I care about making sure campus opportunities are as equally distributed as possible for each and every one of you. Come share your ideas, and I will make them happen.

Public Dress Code
Clothing laws vary considerably around the world. In general, in most countries, there are no laws which prescribe what clothing is required to be worn. However, the community standards of clothing are set indirectly by way of prosecution of those who wear something that is not socially approved. Those people who wear insufficient clothing can be prosecuted in many countries under various offences termed indecent exposure, public indecency or other descriptions. Generally, these offences do not themselves define what is and what is not acceptable clothing to constitute the offence, and leave it to a judge to determine in each case.
Most clothing laws concern which parts of the body must not be exposed to view; there are exceptions. Some countries have strict clothing laws, such as in Islamic countries. Other countries are more tolerant of non-conventional attire and are relaxed about nudity. Many countries have different laws and customs for men and women, what may be allowed or perceived often varies by gender. Cross-dressing is in some areas specifically illegal, especially a man wearing women's clothing.
Separate laws are usually in place to regulate obscenity, which includes certain depictions of people in various states of undress, and child pornography, which may include similar photographs of children.
In some countries non-sexual toplessness or nudity is not illegal. However, private or public establishments can establish a [dress code] which requires visitors to wear prescribed clothing.
There are a variety of laws around the world which impact on what people can and cannot wear. For example, some laws require a person in authority to wear the appropriate uniform. For example, a policeman on duty may be required to wear a uniform; and it can be illegal for the general public to wear a policeman's uniform. The same could apply to firefighters and other emergency personnel. In some countries, for example in Australia, the boy scouts uniform is also protected.
In many countries, regulations require workers to wear protective clothing, such as safety helmets, shoes, vests etc., as appropriate. The obligation is generally on employers to ensure that their workers wear the appropriate protective clothing. Similarly, health regulations may require those who handle food to wear hair covering, gloves and other clothing.
Governments can also influence standards of dress shown on television through its licensing powers.
In addition to nude beaches and similar exceptional locations, there are some public events in which nudity is tolerated more than usual, such as the naked bike rides held in several countries.
The Advantages are : The Social politeness is being protected , the crime level decreased and free sex attempt decreased but ,
The Disadvantages are : How about the original culture in Indonesia? We Wear kemben and such things , is it considered obscenity?
But no matter what , i believe if people cover their body properly surely good things will happen to them . So , i agree with Indonesian system that did not allow us to "not cover" our body in public places .
About Social Care Funding in UK
What
is social care?
Social care is the name given to
the range of care and support services that help frail and disabled people
remain independent, active and safe, for example helping with getting out of
bed, washing and preparing meals. Support can be provided in
someone’s home, in a community centre or in a care home. What has been announced?
On Monday 11 February, the
Government provided some important detailsabout how they will implement the
recommendations of the Dilnot Commission which reported in July 2011 with a
solution to the problem of how to fund long term social care. They then announced some further
amendments as part of the March 2013 Budget. There are three main changes to
social care funding: 1. Introducing a lifetime cap on
care costs set at £72,000 The Government have said that they
will limit the amount anyone has to pay for care to £72,000 (‘the £72,000 cap’)
during their lifetime. This cap will apply to the cost of
care that people receive either in their own home or living in a care home. It does not include someone's
‘hotel costs’ (i.e. bed and board) if they are living in a care home, these
would still be charged separately even after reaching the cap. However hotel
costs will be capped as well (see below). 2. Increase the upper level of the
means test for people entering residential care to £118,500 The Government have said they would
make the means-test (that decides if you are entitled to financial support from
your council to help pay your residential care costs) more generous than it is
now. At the moment, your capital and
savings below £14,250 are disregarded in the means test. If you have between
£14,250 and £23,250 in capital and savings and your need for care reaches the
threshold set by your local authority then the council will subsidise your care
costs according to a sliding scale. If you have capital and savings
above £23,250 you will have to fund all of your own social care. Your income is
also taken into account in the means test, for example pensions and welfare
benefits. The lower capital and savings limit of £14,250 will be retained under
the new scheme. Now the Government has announced
that it will raise the £23,250 upper limit to £118,500, so in future anyone
with assets of between £14,250 and £118,500 whose need for care reaches the
appropriate threshold – see more below – will be entitled to some financial
support according to a sliding scale. To put it another way, anyone with
less than £118,500 in savings will in future be entitled to at least some
financial support to help pay their care costs if they need to enter a care
home. 3. Capping hotel costs in care
homes The third important change the
Government announced relates to those ‘hotel costs’, referred to above. In
future, they say they will limit these costs to £12,000 a year for everyone. There is one other important change
to note. Last year the Government announced it would introduce a national needs
test by 2015. At the moment local councils set
their own thresholds of seriousness of care needs so there are big variations
between different areas – ‘a postcode lottery’. In future, as part of these changes
the Government will set out national ‘eligibility criteria’ that will apply to
everyone, wherever they live. Age UK is pressing the Government
to set these criteria so that as many people as possible can be helped – not
just those in the greatest need such as those, for example, who cannot get out
of bed or to the toilet without help. The Government hasn’t yet made this
crucial decision. How will my contributions towards
the cap be calculated?Spending on care and support will
be ‘metered’ by your local authority. To be eligible for your meter to start
you must first be assessed by your council as having needs that meet the new
national criteria. The council will decide how much
support you require to meet your needs and set a budget for the cost of this
support. It's this figure that will be used to meter spending. So the amount that counts towards
your cap will be based on what the local authority estimates it would spend on
your care, rather than the actual amount you spend out of your pocket. If you spend more than this figure
on care the additional spending will not count towards your cap. It’s important to note that the
amount a local authority would be prepared to pay towards the cost of your care
is often less than the amount many people are actually charged by care homes. My Question : 1. Why they change the social care ?
2. Why Hotels costs did not include ?
3. If capital and savings below 14.250 euro , why are they disregarded in the means test?
4. What is the announcement about?
5. What is the announcement for?
6.Who should read the announcement?

SMILODON
Smilodon means Saber Tooth in Greek . First things first: although Smilodon is referred to by most people as the saber-toothed tiger, this prehistoric mammal wasn't a true tiger at all, belonging instead to an ancient, long-extinct line of cat-like creatures known as "machairodonts" (a related genus, unsurprisingly, was Machairodus). Other than that, though, what you've heard is mostly true: Smilodon was a large, muscular predator that may well have snacked on early humans as well as the Woolly Mammoths and Giant Sloths of the Pliocene and Pleistocene epochs.
As formidable as it was--and despite what you've seen in the popular media--Smilodon didn't hunt like a modern jaguar or puma. Like other saber-toothed cats (and "dirk-toothed" and "scimitar-toothed" cats as well), Smilodon would leap on its prey suddenly from the high branches of trees, digging its huge incisors into the unfortunate animal's neck and then withdrawing to a safe distance while its dinner bled to death. It's unknown whether Smilodon hunted in packs, though that would certainly have helped it to take down massive herbivores like the giant elk Megaloceros or the giant, prehistoric cow known as the Auroch. Smilodon may even have scuffled with the Dire Wolf, Canis dirus; see The Dire Wolf vs. the Saber-Tooth Tiger - Who Wins? for an analysis of this epic battle.
In case you're wondering why Smilodon has appeared in so many movies, that may be because thousands of intact Smilodon skeletons have been extracted from the La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles, a stone's throw from Hollywood (the California variant of this genus, Smilodon californicus, is the official state fossil). By the way, the last specimen of Smilodon went extinct only 10,000 years ago; by then, primitive humans had figured out how to hunt cooperatively and killed off this dangerous menace once and for all (it also didn't hurt that these same humans also hunted to extinction the giant, herbivorous megafauna that Smilodon snacked on).
Fun Facts About Smilodon :
- The Saber-Tooth Tiger comprised three distinct species.
- The canines of the biggest Saber-Tooth Tigers were almost a foot long...
- but their jaws were comparatively weak.
- Saber-Tooth Tigers hunted in a characteristic way.
- Saber-Tooth Tigers may have lived in packs.
- Saber-Tooth Tigers probably preyed on juveniles...
- ...but they weren't above scavenging the occasional meal, either.
